Songs Twenty-six to Twenty-eight : Sibelius : Symphony No.3

I wanted to try something a bit more ambitious for the big finish, so I worked on these three together. I’ve tried to capture to flow of the music – Sibelius’ symphonies flow together more than any other composer I know – in fact by the seventh he’d abandoned the movement altogether. This one also has a lovely structure with a central melody that slowly emerges in the first, dominates the second and is consumed by the third, and I thought that would link the three pieces together (it’s the yellow bit).
