A year ago the city of Christchurch in New Zealand, a place I have great affection for, was hit by a devastating earthquake. I drew this that day as part of 28 Drawings Later 2011.
…and today as part of 28 Drawings Later 2012, I get to follow it up with this.
The building is Christchurch’s ruined cathedral, and the spiral motif is the curled up fern shoot, or Koru, which symbolises rebirth in the Maori culture.
